Introducing Iguana 4.0

HL7 Integration Engine HL7 Interface

We’re very proud to officially announce the launch of Iguana 4.0. This is a major milestone for all of us at iNTERFACEWARE. With months of design, development, QA and stress-testing behind us, everyone is very excited to see just how quickly – and easily – our customers have been taking to the new release.

Want to jump right in? Go ahead and download your free copy of the most current version here: IGUANA 4.0: HL7 Integration Engine

Along with the release of Iguana 4.0, we’re also happy to be introducing our official blog.

What exactly will the iNTERFACEWARE blog look like?  Well, we can’t really answer that just yet.  Though the majority of people around here do come from a development background – and carry with that a lot a technical jargon – when it comes to our blog, we’re going to try to keep it casual and just ‘go with the flow’.

That doesn’t mean that you won’t see posts that are devoted to development, design, R&D or other technical subjects – you will.  We simply hope our blog can reach beyond just code and speak about everything from specific HL7 topics down to fun websites, cool products or even the latest iPhone app we’re currently obsessed with.

Every now and then, I’ll even try to corner someone from the office and see if I can get them to share some tips, tricks and secrets about the parts of Iguana they’ve worked on or know best.  Who knows, maybe I’ll even be able to talk a few people into posing for a picture or two.

Most importantly though, we hope that you’ll join us – through your feedback and comments – and help us to better understand not just how you’re using our products, but who you are.

Finally, since this is our first step into the world of corporate blogging, we’d love to know if some of you have taken the same leap as well?  How’s it working out for you?  What’s been the response?  What topics do you look for when you sit down to write – or read – a company’s blog?

  1. That’s sounds interesting, Jim. We don’t explicitly support CDA4CDT, but I’m curious to know what you’re looking to do and how it’ll differ from traditional HL7 uses.

    • Hi Lawrence. Currently, we only offer support for 64-bit Linux platforms. Some of our customers have started testing Iguana on 64-bit Windows machines – in 32-bit mode – but it is not yet officially supported. Please see our manual for more information.

  2. Hi, quick question, our company has been using Iguana since v3 and I wanted to know if the new version was covered under that license of do we need to purchase a new license. Also, will it effect our existing channels any or our current configs?

  3. No – you’re all covered under your maintenance contract to use Iguana 4.0 at no additional cost.

Iguana 4.0 is a huge milestone – it’s the biggest release of the product since the initial version of the product so we do recommend that you chat to us before you upgrade. We have found there are some areas customers trip up in when making the shift to 4.0. This blog will be useful in discussing and resolving those problems.

How many channels are you running and what types of channels and what’s your operating system?

  4. Incidentally Iguana is run on 64 bit Windows machines in production – but as a 32 bit process. We do already run under 64 bit Linux and a 64 bit Windows port of Iguana is underway.

  5. Eliot,

We currently have 25 channels running in production with another 5 in dev. I’m actually ordering 10 more channels today. :)

We just want to make sure that updating our current v3 product doesn’t take anything off line or mess with the configs.

  6. Hi Nick,

Have a read over of the blog Getting Started with Iguana 4.0.

We actually spent a lot of time thinking through how we could make it easier for customers to have tight control over how Iguana 4.0 is deployed and installed. So you can actually install an Iguana 4.0 manually along side an Iguana 3.3.2 instance without the existing Iguana instance.

That means you can migrate the interfaces across from the old Iguana instance one by one which makes for a very smooth controlled upgrade. It’s a really smart way to do it. I’d recommend it for anyone with a non trivial production critical setup.

What type of channel set up do you have? Is it just LLP–>DB etc. or more complicated? It would be a good idea to send us your ChannelConfiguration.xml file from your current instance.

Iguana 4.0 is a *major* update – it’s the biggest release for the product since the first release so it’s really not a bad idea to take care with the upgrade when dealing with an important production system.

    Cheers,
    Eliot

  7. Congrats on the release of Iguana 4.0 – we’ve been using various versions of Iguana for years now and we’re most impressed with this latest release.

We’re particularly liking the improved logging and all the features that will help us integrate it into our systems to give our customers a quick status of their integrations.

We can’t wait to see what’s next!

    Best,
    Mark
